DOCUMENTS AND NATURE OF TITLE AVAILABLE.

The documents available for plot purchasers/owners due diligence and inspection include the following:-

  • Owerri High Court Judgment in Suit No. HOW/320/2006 vesting the rights of occupancy of the subject land on Owerri North Housing Estates Limited (now Umuorii Rainbow Estates Limited. This principal Judgment was implemented by Imo State Government and filed as No. 9/9/1161 of the Land Registry at Owerri. It is the duly registered root of the housing company’s title.
  • Judgment of the Court of Appeal Owerri in Appeal Case No. CA/OW/515/2018 given on 1st February 2023 dismissing original landowners appeal against the principal judgment.
  • Owerri High Court Judgment in Suit No. HOW/583/2018 granting possession of the land against its illegal occupiers.
  • Owerri High Court enforcement orders of forfeiture in Suit No. HOW/583/2018 dated 16th September 2019 and 27th June 2023 respectively.

  • Owerri High Court judgment in Suit No. HOW/464/2010 affirming the principal or earlier judgment in Suit No. HOW/320/2006. It is duly registered as No. 10/10/1161 of the Land Registry at Owerri.
  • Deed of Irrevocable Power of Attorney made by Owerri North Government transferring its residual interest in the land to the housing company. It is registered as No. 31/31/948 of the Lands Registry at Owerri.
  • Government Survey Plan Number OWR(M)499 affirming the housing company as the title holder. It was made by the Surveyor General of Imo State.
  • Owerri High Court Writ of Possession of the land in Suit No. HOW/583/2018 executed by Owerri Court bailiffs on 18th December 2019. Said Writ transferred possession of the land from the illegal occupiers to the housing company.
  • Letter of Imo State Government implementation of the Owerri High Court judgment in Suit No. HOW/320/2006 which vested the rights of occupancy on the housing company.
PROCESSING OF TITLE DOCUMENTS
  • To be processed by Legal Department of our Legal Officers so as ensure uniformity, regularity and prevent sharp practices as have become prevent in the locality.
PURCHASE OF NEW PLOTS

An initial assessment of each purchaser and it would be done online. This is to enable the Project Implementation Committee of the housing company identity and give priority attention to those affected by the High Court order of forfeiture and given them priority attention for plot regularization purposes.  Download Form Here

REGULARISATION OF ILLEGALLY PURCHASED PLOTS
  • For persons who built on plots they had purchased illegally between 2016 and 2021, they should visit our offices for our guidelines to be followed.
